Weiss was… different. Where I struggled so much with Garnet, I at least had a pretty good (?????) idea of how I was going to pull him off, with Weiss I just kind of did his face and was like OH HE’S SO PRETTY OK I’M DONE haha. The fact that I couldn’t really think of a good genderbend name for him also sort of irks me…

You can’t really see it here, but his tailcoat is gradient-ed like girl Weiss’s skirt! The snow pattern is also between his shoulders. Unlike Garnet, I mainly tried to keep his outfit as close to girl Weiss’s as possible instead of branching out into the same ‘style’, which is why having a tailcoat in place of her skirt was so important to me even though I couldn’t quite figure out how to pull it off until the last minute. Still, I hope you guys like it! I tried to make his holster a mix of a pistol and rapier one (which resulted in a weird triangle shape with a ton of little belt//buckles) since I couldn’t find a good reference ;;

I have chronic rule 63 syndrome and when I first saw the Red trailer (which was about four days ago, I think?) I KNEW what I had to do, haha. Garnet was pretty hard to do for various reasons- I ended up trying to play more on the gothkei look Ruby has than trying to fit in with individual aspects of her outfit (I still tried, but..), but I’m pretty happy with how he turned out overall!

This is the first and last time I draw crescent rose, fyi. Haha, don’t pay too much attention to it I’m sure if you scrutinise it you’ll find something wrong aa ///____\ 

I was really confused when picking references, actually. In some shots she has a cross on her belt, on others it’s the rose, and then in one it’s even both??? I tried, haha (oh my god do I try-)
